1 — SCOPE
This policy applies to all faculty and staff. Where there is a conflict between this policy and a collective agreement or contract of employment, the collective agreement or contract of employment will prevail.
2 — VACATION LEAVE
The vacation year is from July 1 to June 30. Employees with continuing appointments must take vacation leave earned in one vacation year before the conclusion of the following vacation year except as provided in section 3 below. Employees with term appointments must take earned vacation leave before the expiry date of the term appointment.
3 — CARRYOVER OF VACATION LEAVE
In exceptional circumstances, and with the written approval of the appropriate Vice-President, an employee may carry over vacation leave earned in one vacation year beyond June 30 of the following vacation year. A copy of this approval must be provided to the Human Resources Department before June 30 of that following vacation year.
