23 Aug 2017

Saurabh_web1. What is your summer internship and what will you take away from this experience?

I currently work as one of the two Bell Social Media Interns working with the admissions and recruitment team in the . I work specifically in the area of prospect management and provide support to the admissions team on social media and also assist international students with their decisions, questions, and transition to Mount Allison. The biggest takeaway for me from this internship is that I am able to venture into the field of social media management, which is one of the newest industries in the world.

2. What is the best thing about summer in Sackville?

This is my second summer in Sackville and I have come to really appreciate the beauty and calmness that comes to the town in the summer. During the school year, it is difficult to get out and explore the Maritimes and students miss out on the incredible opportunity to venture out and hike, go to the beach, go camping, explore the cities in the area, etc. I would highly recommend at least one Sackville summer stay for students who come to Sackville from different places.

3. What are you involved in on campus?

I have tried to be as involved as I can be since my first year. I have been involved as the President of MOSAIC (The Society of Nations), a , in the i, , and much more. This year I am also the Chair, an executive member of MtA Young Liberals and the Student Representative.

4. What are you looking forward to most about your final year at Mount A?

I am looking forward to knowing as many people as I can in the extended Mount Allison community. Mount Allison has provided me with a lot of opportunities to succeed and I would like to be there as a resource to the incoming students, just like my seniors did when I first came here in 2014.

5. What are your post-grad plans?

I would like to live in Atlantic Canada for the next couple of years and garner more experience before going to graduate school and study either public administration or public policy.

Bonus Question: If you could give one piece of advice to first-year students, what would it be?

One piece of advice that I received and would like to pass onto the next Mounties is- plan as if you are going to graduate tomorrow. University is a great place to experience and explore new things but planning ahead and having an objective is very important. Make sure you come in with a smile on and an open mind because you are going to meet some of the most intelligent, quirky, fun, dynamic and charismatic people and the whole university experience is going to open different experiences so that you get out of the place much better a person than when you came here.
