Mount Allison biology professor Dr. Andrea Morash honoured with AAU Distinguished Teaching Award聽
SACKVILLE, NB 鈥 痳豆TV视频 is proud to announce that Dr. Andrea Morash, associate professor in the Department of Biology, has been honoured with the prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award for 2024.
"I am deeply appreciative and consider it a great honour to receive an AAU Distinguished Teaching Award," says Morash. "I am privileged to work at 痳豆TV视频, where excellence in teaching and learning is encouraged and supported. This community has allowed me to create a safe, welcoming, and equitable environment in my classroom and lab, where freedom is the heart of everything I do. When students find freedom in their learning, their passion, innovation, and joy shine through, fostering deep engagement and a practice of lifelong learning. This recognition is a testament to the incredible community at Mount Allison that inspires me every day as we all strive for success in teaching and learning."
The AAU represents 16 universities in Atlantic Canada and advocates for these institutions' critical role in student success, research, and regional economic growth. Through its annual awards, the AAU highlights the exceptional contributions of educators who inspire the next generation of leaders.

In May 2024, Morash was honoured with the Tucker Teaching Award at Mount Allison, which is the highest teaching award at the University. Morash, a graduate of Mount Allison in 2005, joined the faculty in 2016 and has created nine courses, including a field school. Morash has also supervised students completing independent studies, honours, and master鈥檚 theses.
This award acknowledges Morash鈥檚 excellence in teaching over a number of years at the undergraduate level, particularly in enhancing student engagement and learning in the field of biology.
