Mount Allison student Pushkaraj Jadhav receives 2023 Frank H. Sobey Award for Excellence in Business Studies
SACKVILLE, NB 鈥 痳豆TV视频 student Pushkaraj Jadhav has been named a 2023 recipient of the from the Sobey Foundation.
Valued at $45,000 each, the awards support the development of future business leaders and business programs in Atlantic Canadian Universities. The eight awards recipients were announced on April 4, 2023.
鈥淧ushkaraj鈥檚 academic achievements and exceptional entrepreneurial spirit makes him a deserving recipient of the Frank H. Sobey Award,鈥 says Acting Dean of Business and Social Sciences Dr. Vicki St. Pierre. 鈥淚 am confident that he will continue to make a positive impact on his community and in the business world.鈥
Jadhav, an international student from India, is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce with minors in computer science and economics in May.
鈥淚 feel privileged to receive a Frank H. Sobey Award,鈥 says Jadhav. 鈥淚t has given me confidence that I have made a difference as an international student. I am grateful to the Sobey Foundation for their recognition and support and am honored to have had the chance to meet the other recipients and to listen to their amazing journeys. Being part of the Frank H. Sobey alumni is a life-changing experience.鈥
Jadhav was initially drawn to Mount Allison due to its small class sizes and close-knit community.
鈥淢ount Allison stood out to me because it was a smaller university in Atlantic Canada and I felt that I would be part of a community here,鈥 says Jadhav.
During his time at Mount Allison, Jadhav has been involved in various business ventures. In early 2020, he established the Indian Kitchen, a food delivery service that provided a weekly selection of homemade Indian meals to the Sackville community. In 2022, he led a team of twelve Commerce students in the creation of Sip, a caf茅 that offered international drinks and food in downtown Sackville.
While he has several business ideas for the future, Jadhav is particularly passionate about establishing a community kitchen that would enable students or community members who want to start a food business to rent a kitchen space. This model would encourage new business ventures and provide customers with greater variety.
鈥淢y goal is to build something that benefits the community in some way,鈥 says Jadhav. 鈥淥n a personal level, it is a great feeling to receive recognition for my accomplishments. But I also hope this achievement will inspire other international students to recognize the opportunities that exist for them here and take advantage of them.鈥
