Mount Allison welcomes Jade Lister as Sexual Violence Response, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Consultant聽

Lister serves as campus contact for students, employees to disclose complaints, access resources聽

SACKVILLE, NB 鈥 痳豆TV视频 has welcomed Jade Lister as its Sexual Violence Response, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Consultant (SVREDIC).  Lister started in the new role this month.
 
A registered nurse (RN), Lister holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
 
鈥淎s an RN, I worked in several units, including labour and delivery, psychiatric nursing and emergency,鈥 says Lister. 鈥淲hile that work was rewarding, I am looking forward to being part of the campus community and connecting students, faculty, and staff members to help support them through the process of disclosing and accessing the supports, resources, and accommodations needed.鈥
 
鈥淛ade鈥檚 combination of education and clinical experience brings specialized expertise and connections to external resources and supports for the 痳豆TV视频 community,鈥 says Anne Comfort, Mount Allison鈥檚 Vice-President, International and Student Affairs. 鈥淲e are pleased to welcome her to the Wellness Centre team in this critical role.鈥 
 
Lister has joined Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator Dr. Tasia Alexopoulos, who began in the Wellness Centre last year. Working with students and staff members, the pair have worked to bring additional services and supports to the campus community including new procedures around reporting incidents on campus and connecting individuals to internal and external services and supports.

鈥淚 work with individuals to explain the official complaints pathways and processes, helping people navigate systems and resources and co-ordinating any services needed, whether it鈥檚 counselling and health services, academic or housing accommodations, or connecting with legal support and other services,鈥 says Lister. 鈥淚 want the Mount Allison community 鈥 students and employees 鈥 to know that I am here to help. My office is safe, there鈥檚 no judgement. I will do everything I can to assist members of the University community.鈥

Along with supporting the campus community around sexual violence response and prevention, Lister serves as a student advocate for anti-racism, issues of accessibility, religious discrimination, etc. on campus. Individuals seeking more information or to express concerns of this nature on campus can reach out to Lister directly.
 
While an important contact to university and community resources, Lister is not an emergency services contact. Individuals in distress should call 911, the mobile crisis unit, or present at the hospital.

On Friday, Sept. 23 between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Lister, along with Student Development Counsellors Renee Carew and Jess Griffin, will hold a Meet and Greet for students and staff in Gracie鈥檚 Caf茅 on campus. All are welcome.
