Beginning with a single academic building, the Mount Allison campus has continued to evolve with 38 buildings and 72-acres to date.

As part of our commitment to uphold and maintain the quality of the Mount Allison experience for current and future students, we continue to work towards the development and implementation of various maintenance and renewal initiatives to existing spaces.


Future projects

R.P. Bell Library: Centre for Innovation and Learning (RPBCIL)

The newly renovated R.P. Bell Library: Centre for Innovation and Learning will serve as a home for teaching, learning, and research services. In addition to library staff, collections, and resources, it will house academic support for students, teaching and learning support for faculty, and spaces designed to facilitate the variety of ways in which students study and learn. Interim Library

The Interim Library will ensure students and faculty have access to the full suite of library services while the R.P. Bell Library is under renovation.

The facility鈥檚 long-term purpose will be as a multipurpose athletics complex. More details will be made available as details are finalized. Construction is scheduled to begin Spring 2025.

Lansdowne Field 

Lansdowne field, located across the street from Alumni Field, will be converted to a parking lot in the Spring of 2025. The field will remain available for use as a sports field throughout the 2024 Fall Term.

Summer 2024 Construction

Noticeable construction projects will begin on campus in preparation for the Interim Library and R.P. Bell Library: Centre for Innovation and Learning (RPBCIL) construction.

Some of these projects may be completed before the fall term, while others will continue throughout the 2024-25 academic year. Learn More

Harper Hall

Opening September 2024

This renovation involves a complete reconstruction of the residence, which first opened in 1965. Harper Hall is expected to be ready for Fall 2024 move-in, featuring 139 sustainable ensuites.

The main floor will also feature a new Residence Life Zone, providing a shared space for activities and gatherings for residence students and guests.


Recently completed projects

Athletic Centre

The McCormack Gymnasium, located in the Athletic Centre, re-opened in the Spring of 2023 after a $5.5 million ventilation and renewal project. The gymnasium had not had any significant upgrades since the Athletic Centre opened in 1961.

The renovations included:

  • Ventilation system replacement
  • Retractable bleachers and new hardwood flooring
  • Lighting
  • Scoreboard, nets, and basketball equipment
  • Insulation, doors, and new interior finishes
