As a Bachelor of Arts student, you'll learn to become a problem solver and innovator who approaches issues with an open mind and critical thinking.

You'll learn to communicate clearly, argue logically, cultivate leadership and collaborative skills, and expand your worldview.

Graduates with a degree in Arts are well equipped to move on to graduate and professional schools, such as law, medicine, education, and dentistry, or to enter into the competitive job market.


In order to qualify for a Bachelor of Arts degree, students must complete 120 credits.

One of the following must be completed:

  • a major + minor (most common)
  • a double or joint major
  • a general degree with three minors
  • a specialized degree with an honours (no minor required)
  • a major with aviation (no minor required)

Distribution requirements

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Mount Allison will learn how to take an interdisciplinary approach to important issues by taking courses from outside their program of study through distribution requirements.

Students must complete six credits (two courses) in each of four categories.
